Pricing Profile Overview

The Pricing Profile screen provides users with the ability to apply a mark-up value to any costs that are entered against any suppliers and their services in the rates screen.

Note:  The pricing profile is a required item.  The Pricing Engine for the Product and Reservation applications relies on the details entered into the pricing profile in order to update the costing and pricing of the services used in the Product.

The pricing profile is available in the left hand navigation menu for any product (packages, lists.)

Defining the Fields

Brands

Companies have the ability to set up multiple brands under one company.  This allows companies to support multiple pricing structures within the same product.

Sell Methods

Sell Methods allow users to control the mark-up value depending on the path that the product is sold from.

Example

A company can have 2 sell methods: Call Center and Web. The user can add a lower mark-up value in the pricing profile for web bookings to incentivize their customers to create reservations online as opposed to creating reservations through the call center.

Masks

Masks represents guest configurations.

Example

A: Adult; C: Child; C1-12: Child between 1 and 12 years old

The user can create a pricing profile based on AA (2 Adults) and AAA (3 Adults for Triple Rooms) with different Mark ups. If the user wishes for the Mark Up to be applicable for all masks, leave the field empty. Users can also apply multiple Masks by entering the masks with a in slash-delimited format

Example

A/AA/AAA

Markup

The markup field is the markup value that will be applied to the costs to get the final price.

Example

 <100: 1.5<200: 1.3<D: 1.1RU9

In this example, if the cost is less than $100, the markup will be 1.5; If the cost is less than $200, but not less than $100, the markup will be 1.3; If the cost is not less than $200, the markup will be 1.1 ("D" is for Default). The "RU9" at the end is for the rounding rules.

This example will Round Up to the Nearest 9. The available codes for the rounding rules are "U" (Round Up), "D" (Round Down), "N" (Round to the Nearest Number). By adding a number to the end, it will then round to that nearest number.

If users only want a Default markup no matter what the cost is, enter the markup with the Rounding Rules at the end (Ex: 1.37RU9). If the markup is greater than 1 (1.5), the cost will be multiplied by that number, if it's less than 1 (0.85), the cost will be divided by that number.

To apply a markup to any RACK rates in the system, add /RACK to the end of the markup value.

Example

1.24/RACK1.1. This example will make the default markup be 1.24 but when a service has a Rack rate on it, it will use 1.1 as the markup for that service. To always make the price be 0, enter "NONE" as the markup. To say that a specific Sell Method cannot be used for this service, enter N/A here.

Maximum Commission or Max Comm

The Maximum Commission field is the way to control the commission being paid out for certain service types that are specific to the product.

Example

If the user has a service in the product that does not have enough profit margin, the user can exclude that service type by not entering in -1.  This service type will then not apply a commission value to it.

The maximum allowed commission percentage on the price for this ServiceType. This is a percentage without entering the "%" sign.

Currency

In case the product is offered in different destinations and sold with different currencies, the user can control the price markups by creating multiple pricing profiles in different curruncies.

Supplier ID

The supplier ID allows users to set the markup value for specific suppliers.

This field supports a wildcard entry which is particularly useful for products that have multiple different suppliers and services.

Example

If you enter US* the markup will be applicable to all Suppliers that start with "US-" if the format followed for suppliers starts with the country code.

Service ID

The service ID field allows users to apply different markup values to different service ID's.

This field supports a wildcard entry which is particularly useful for products that have multiple different suppliers and services.

Gateway

If the Product offered is sold from certain or multiple Gateways, the user can apply different markup values..

Example

The Product built is sold with flights departing from NYC and LAX airports. The user in this case can create multiple Pricing Profiles to set different Markups. Note: The field can also handle multiple gateways at one time by separating them with a comma. Ex: NYC,PHL. By entering the value ANY, this tells the system that all gateways apply to this markup.

Note: This field can also handle multiple gateways at one time by separating them with a comma. Example:  NYC,PHL

Book Dates

The first date that booking is allowed for this product/package.

Departure Dates or Dep Dates

The first date that a customer can depart on this package item.

Adding Defaults

Users can add Defaults for the pricing profile under System Settings in the Security subsystem.  These defaults will allow users to add default markup values for a variety of service types.

SecurityDefault.mp4

When a new product is created, the default mark-up value entered in the system settings screen will automatically generate in the pricing profile screen.

These mark-up values can be edited or deleted with new values.

If a user wants the default values to appear back in the pricing profile, they can select the "add defaults" option.  This option will overwrite any markup values added and pull the default pricing profile values from the system settings screen.

Note:  The mark-up values added are based off of the service types that are on the package.  For example, if there are default values added to the system settings screen for transfers, optional tours, and hotels and all of those services are added to the package, then those mark-up values will be added into the pricing profile when selecting "add defaults."

DefaultPricingProfile.mp4

Note:  If there are no defaults added to the system settings screen for service type ALL or PKG, then a default mark-up value of "1" will be automatically created for the pricing profile.
