What are Item Roles?

Item Roles are designators to a Service within a product that enables the service to price and behave in a specific way based on business conditions:

The Items are are defined as follows:

Required (R) = If Item Role is selected to be R required,

The Service will be included within the Cost of the package and will be required to be part of the Package.

Supplement (S)

The Service will be offered as a Supplemental Price. Must set Link Code to introduce the Radio Button. What are Link Codes?

Example:

6 Day Florence package offers Standard Room as included in the Package Price. If you wish to offer an upgrade option, within the Product → Plans & Services screen, set the Item Role as S for the upgrade option, and enter in the Link Code.

During the shop process, the Reservation system will offer the service with a Supplemental Upgrade Price option.

Optional (O)

Sets the service as an Optional add-on Service.

During the shop process, the Reservation booking process will introduce “Optionals” Section allowing the user to select the service(s) to be selected.

Optional Checked by Default (OC)

Sets the service as an Optional add-on Service but by default selects the Service automatically for the user.

Required with Air (RA)

Sets the service as Required IF AIR Services is selecting during the initial shop process.

Ex: If package offers Transfer Service and wants to promote that if client booked Land and Air together, they would get Transfer included, select this item role for that service.

Optional with Land Only (OL)

Sets the service as option IF no AIR is booked during the initial shop process.

Ex: If package offers option to book with or without Air, and if user selects Land Only option, you can set the service with this Item Role to offer the Transfer Service as an add-on.

Optional with Air (OA)

Sets the service as option IF AIR is booked during the initial shop process and want to offer additional add-on services for a fee.

Optional with Air - Checked (OCA)

Same as Optional with Air (OA) but selects the service by default.

Optional with Land Only - Checked (OCL)

Same as Optional with Land Only (OL) but selects the service by default.

Supplement with Air (SA)

Same as Supplement (S) Service fee only if booking Air during the initial shop process.

Supplement with Land Only (SL)

Same as Supplement Service (S) fee only if no Air (land only package) during the initial shop process.

Required with Air / Supplement with Land Only (RA/SL)

This is a combination of the Item Role (RA) and (SL)

Required with Air / Optional Checked with Land Only (RA/OCL)

This is a combination of the Item Role (RA) and (OCL)

Included in Cost and not booked into Reservation ( X )

Use this item Role used for services that have costs that they want as part of package pricing but not part of the PNL in Reservations

Also, you may not be ready to push the service to a reservation.  perhaps you're not sure if that Supplier is going to be used.  You can start with X and then change it to R to push it out to reservations later.
