Custom Domains and SSLs

Softrip’s hosting environment can host your applications on a custom domain. This document describes how to set up your DNS to point your domain to the Softrip hosting environment, and how Softrip secures your applications

Custom Domain Setup

In your DNS provider, simply create a CNAME record pointing your custom domain (e.g. reservations.abctravel.com) to your Softrip domain (e.g. abctravel.softrip.com).

Note that setting a short TTL (15 minutes or less) on this DNS entry can help in case of any updates to DNS.

Once the DNS entry is established, contact Softrip to ensure all server-side settings are updated accordingly.

Custom Domain SSLs

Softrip issues and auto-renews SSLs for custom domains using Let’s Encrypt. These SSLs are issued for 90 days and auto-renewed within 30 days of expiration.

If you have a custom domain set up with Softrip, just let us know so we can issue the first SSL and schedule it for auto-renewal.

If you already have a custom domain set up with Softrip and previously issued your own SSLs for that custom domain, Softrip will gradually move those SSLs to the new auto-renewal process within 60 days of expiration of the original SSL.
