Creating a New City Code in Softrip
While Softrip has over 2,300 pre-loaded cities, there may be occasions where the city you're selling as a destination does not exist in the system. In those cases, follow the steps below to create a new city code.
Steps to Create a New City Code:
Navigate to the Security Settings:
Go to Security → System Settings.
Access City Codes:
In the left navigation panel, select City Codes.
Search for Existing Data:
Before creating a new city or country, always search to ensure that the city or country doesn't already exist in the system.
Create a New City:
Click the + button to create a new city.
Complete the required fields in the form at the bottom and click Save.
Definitions for Each Field:
Code:
The code for the country and city.
Country Code: A two-letter code for the country (e.g., DE for the United States).
City Code: A three-letter code for the city (e.g., MUC for Munich).
Airport Code: If you're entering a new airport, use the IATA Airport Code (e.g., JFK for New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport).
Example: If creating Munich, Germany, the code MUC
Description:
A brief description of the city or country.
Example: Munich, Germany.
Country Code:
The two-letter code for the country (e.g., DE for Germany).
Latitude:
This field is used only for legacy applications. It defines the latitude coordinate for the city or country.
Longitude:
This field is used only for legacy applications. It defines the longitude coordinate for the city or country.
Outbound Airport:
Select this option if the city is an airport from which travelers can fly out.
Example: If you’re creating an entry for New York City, you would select this option if the airport is JFK.
Destination:
Select this option if the city or country is a destination where travelers will be arriving to. Make sure this is tagged if you wish for the destination to appear on the Dynamic Shop process.
City:
Select this option if you are entering a city.
Country:
Select this option if you are entering a country.
Important Notes:
Always search for the city or country before creating it to avoid duplications.
For airport codes, ensure you are using the correct IATA code.
By following these steps, you can efficiently add new cities and countries into Softrip.
