Mark-Up Values Pricing Profiles
Mark-Up Values Overview Pricing Profiles
Softrip provides the ability to add different costs, pricing, and mark-up values in different screens throughout the Softrip application. In the Product application, there are two ways in which users can add a markup value. Â
Cost Summary
Pricing Profile Â
Theses screens are available in the Product application and can be viewed once a user selects "manage product" on any product that exists. Â
Â
Â
Â
The Pricing Profiles part of the Product system that gives user the ability to Mark up the service prices for the specific product overall. Please note that this is a required item as the Pricing Engine for the Product and Reservation system relies on the details entered in here to update costing and pricing of the services used in the Product.
There are variation of fields that allows the user to be able to handle different cases when marking up the prices for the services in the product. These values will display in the Departure Dates & Prices screen.
Example: For the Product Code: PHL-CITY-PACKAGE-19, the user has the capability to create a Pricing Profile with different Mark Ups for different service types and or between different book dates as per image below. The system will prevent the user from creating conflicting Pricing Profiles by prompting the user the Profile already exists. When the user goes through the Calc Land Prices process, the system would rely on the inputs in Pricing Profiles. Please see Calc Land Pricess section of the manual for this process.

Defining the Fields
Brands
Companies have the ability to set up multiple brands under one company. The idea of having another brand is to be able to support multiple pricing structures within the same product.
Example
One company may have a certain mark-up for their product line. Let's say it is a 15% mark-up. This product line is sold to every day customers. Let's say that the same company wants to sell the same product line, but they only want to sell it at a 5% mark-up. This product line is sold to Elite Customers, possibly holding platinum credit cards. In this situation, two brands would be set-up to support this selling strategy.  In the Pricing Profiles setup the user can create multiple Pricing profiles with different Brands, which will enable the product to be offered at different price points.
Sell Methods
This is a way to control which path the product is sold from. For example: A company can have 2 sell methods CallCenter and WEB. The user can incentives a lower Markup for customers making reservations from WEB in order to release pressure from the Call Center to to cut overhead.
Masks
Represents a guest configuration for this Pricing profile. In its basic form A: Adult; C: Child; C1-12: Child between 1 and 12 years old (inclusive). Masks in general is a variaton of the services or products offered in a per person level. The user can create a Procing profile based on AA (2 Adults) and AAA (3 Adults for Triple Rooms) with different Mark ups. If the user wishes for the Mark Up to be applicable for all masks, leave the field empty. The user can also apply multiple Masks by entering in slash-delimited. (Ex: A/AA/AAA)
Markup
This is the markup to apply to the prices.
ExampleÂ
<100: 1.5<200: 1.3<D: 1.1RU9
In this example, if the cost is less than $100, the markup will be 1.5; If the cost is less than $200, but not less than $100, the markup will be 1.3; If the cost is not less than $200, the markup will be 1.1 ("D" is for Default). The "RU9" at the end is for the rounding rules. This example will Round Up to the Nearest 9. The available codes for the rounding rules are "U" (Round Up), "D" (Round Down), "N" (Round to the Nearest Number). By adding a number to the end, it will then round to that nearest number.
If you only want a Default markup no matter what the cost is, just enter the markup with the Rounding Rules at the end (Ex: 1.37RU9). If the markup is greater than 1 (1.5), the cost will be multiplied by that number, if it's less than 1 (0.85), the cost will be divided by that number.
To apply a markup to any RACK rates in the system, just add to the end of your markup rule /RACK and then the markup.
Example
1.24/RACK1.1. This example will make the default markup be 1.24 but when a service has a Rack rate on it, it will use 1.1 as the markup for that service. To always make the price be 0, enter "NONE" as the markup. To say that a specific Sell Method cannot be used for this service, enter N/A here.
